ACT/SAT Game Plan

If you're a high school student athlete with plans of playing at the next level, you're already familiar with hard work, discipline, and long-term goals. Whether you're grinding on the ice, field, court, or track, you know success doesn’t come overnight. It’s earned over time through consistent effort and strategic training.

The ACT and SAT work the same way. In fact, preparing for the ACT and/or SAT is a lot like training for a marathon.

You Don’t Show Up on Race Day Without Training

You wouldn’t show up at the starting line of a 26.2-mile race without months of preparation. You’d have a plan, a schedule, and likely a coach helping you along the way. That's exactly how you should approach test prep.

ACT and/or SAT success isn’t about last-minute cramming. It comes from structured preparation that builds your endurance, pacing, and mental stamina over time. Just like your athletic training schedule, your test prep should include consistent practice, review, and feedback.

Training = Practice Tests + Strategy

Every full-length practice test is like a long run. It builds your stamina and simulates the real testing experience. Drills and review sessions are like your speed and strength workouts, improving accuracy and efficiency with every session. And working with a great test prep coach is like training with a personal coach. They help you stay focused, adjust your approach, and stay motivated through the challenging parts.

At POLARIS, we understand how to align your academic and athletic goals so they work together, not against each other. That’s why we partner with Revolution Prep, who offers live, online SAT and PSAT/NMSQT digital practice exams every Saturday at 8 AM and 11 AM ET CST.

Revolution Prep also recently announced their partnership with ACT. This partnership will give our student athletes an advantage with access to exclusive ACT tutoring and test prep bundles.

Why Practice Tests Matter

Taking full-length, proctored digital exams under timed conditions is one of the most effective ways to prepare. These practice tests provide key benefits:

  • Testing Endurance: Learn how to stay focused and sharp throughout the entire exam.

  • Instant Feedback: Receive your score report immediately, with detailed performance breakdowns.

  • Targeted Study: Identify your strengths and weaknesses so you can focus your study time where it counts most.

Just like reviewing game film, seeing your performance in real time helps you train smarter, not just harder. We utilize test prep results as an opportunity to review and game plan in real time as we continue in pursuit of your goals.

Train with Purpose

The ACT and SAT play a big role in the recruiting and admissions process. A strong score can unlock academic scholarships, improve your standing with admissions teams, and make you a more attractive candidate for coaches. Don’t leave your performance to chance. Prepare with purpose, just like you do for your sport.

At POLARIS Student Athlete Consulting, we support student athletes at every step. From developing your recruiting strategy to preparing for key academic milestones, we help you stay focused, confident, and ready to perform your best—in competition and the classroom.
